This year presents a grand opportunity to trust and exalt the living God! 🌟 God delights in demonstrating His super-divine, extraordinary capabilities amidst challenges and battles that rage against us. ⚔️🛡️
Take, for instance, the timeless story of young David in 1 Samuel 17. His father sent him to go and serve his brothers on the frontlines of Israel’s battle against the Philistines. It's the same scenario eerily reminiscent of today’s wars against the modern-day Philistines, conveniently renamed Palestinians. 🕊️🤺
David traversed to where the war zone was and delivered grains, bread, and cheese to the army camp where his brothers were stationed. At the camp, he heard the roaring threats by Goliath. The entire army of Israel, along with the king, quivered in fear at the sight of Goliath. Despite being seasoned warriors, well-prepared for the adversities of war, they found themselves gripped by an overwhelming terror. 😨
David was outraged by what he heard and witnessed. He recalled his past experiences when the Lord had empowered him to conquer both bears and lions, rescuing helpless sheep. David drew strength from his past victories over dangers, and with the same reliance in God, David felt confident that God could bring victory from the looming threats. 💪🦁🐑
David courageously declared his intention to face Goliath and secure victory for his nation. In response, his brothers scoffed at him and accused him of being arrogant; they were unaware of God’s interventions in David’s past. Undeterred by their mocking, David chose to disregard their ignorance and committed his trust in the living God. He was resolved to enter the battlefield. 🏹⚔️
The king granted David permission to engage in the battle, initially advising him to utilize the conventional armory and weapons of war by all other soldiers. David heeded this suggestion but swiftly realized he must confront Goliath using the skills God prepared in him. Rather than relying on the conventional heavy armor, David chose to rely on God, armed only with his humble slingshot and five stones. 🏹🪶
David charged into battle with full alliance in God. He refused to give the enemy an opportunity to intimidate him, and quickly attacked the enemy. David won! God received the glory! Israel secured the victory! And David's faith was once again strengthened. 🏆🙌
There are battles up ahead this year in your life and mine. It is imperative that this be a year to trust God and exalt God. The intensity of these upcoming challenges may surpass those of previous years. Remember to recall all that God has done in the past. Trust God. Utilize the skills He has honed in you through past experiences to confront the new battles. While some battles are meant to be won by conventional approaches, recognize that God also delights in using humble, little means to achieve victory against what appears impossible. Trust God wholeheartedly, persevere through the battles, and exalt God. 🙏💪🌈
