Yet, across America, this sacred place is being infiltrated. Predators are slipping into our pews, standing behind pulpits, and gaining the trust of congregations—only to commit the vilest of betrayals. What was instituted by God to be a stronghold for the vulnerable is instead becoming a hunting ground for wolves in sheep’s clothing.
It seems like hardly a week goes by without another devastating report of sexual abuse within the Church. The days when evil lurked in the shadows outside the sanctuary are gone. Today, evil looms brazenly—within many churches—deceiving congregations and destroying lives.
These atrocities not only undermine the trust of congregations but also break the very heart of what the Church is meant to represent—safety and sanctuary. What’s most alarming is that these crimes are not just persisting; they are increasing. This should shake us to our core. The conversation has remained muted for too long—we can no longer afford silence.
A quick internet search reveals story after story of pastors, youth leaders, and trusted church members being exposed for their monstrous acts. It is gut-wrenching and it is infuriating. It is far more prevalent than many would like to believe.
God is grieved. The corruption infecting the Church is disturbing evidence that we are living in perilous times, drawing close to the Tribulation of God’s wrath against sin. Just as in Noah’s time, before God poured out His judgment, every imagination of the thoughts of humans’ hearts was only evil continually (Genesis 6:5). Today, we are witnessing a generation drowning in similar depravity. But do not mistake God’s long-suffering for indifference. His justice is coming. He will not allow sin to run rampant forever. What we see today is not merely an attack on the Church—it is an abominable affront to the holiness of God Himself. And He will respond.
During my recent visit to the United States, I felt the putrid ugliness of this sin more painfully than ever before. I was sickened to learn of yet another heartbreaking tragedy—one that struck far too close to home. A pastor, not far from my own family, is facing multiple counts of sexual crimes involving a child under the age of ten.
Let that sink in—trust shattered, innocence stolen, faith shaken. It is an unspeakable evil. We cannot sit back and be spectators. The pain and injustice are too overwhelming. Something must be done.
The Church must wake up. Scripture warns us of grievous wolves in sheep’s clothing (Matthew 7:15; Acts 20:29; John 10:12), and yet time and again [hundreds of cases], congregations are blindsided when one of their own is exposed as a predator. We shake our heads in disbelief while another child’s world falls apart. The question is not if abuse will happen—but whether we will be prepared to prevent it. More urgently--will your Church be ready to respond with truth, justice and compassion?
Too many churches have either failed to appropriately acknowledge these harsh realities or, out of confusion and uncertainty, mishandled them in ways that often unintentionally deepen the wounds of victims. This cannot continue.
We must start talking about the uncomfortable realities of our day:
- How predators groom not just individuals but entire churches.
- Why many churches protect their own, even at the cost of victims.
- The devastating shipwrecking of faith caused by betrayal.
- How we can build real safeguards that actually work.
- What it means to support survivors in a compassionate way.
- And why covering up abuse is not just a scandal—it is one of the greatest betrayals of the Gospel.
This is not a side issue—it’s a Gospel issue. We need more than words. We need action.
No more turning a blind eye. No more shallow apologies. No more covering sin to protect reputations. This evil must be exposed. The Body of Christ must become a place where wolves are driven out—not welcomed in with honorary titles. Where survivors are embraced, not silenced. Where pastors stop protecting institutions and start protecting the innocent.
We need accountability in leadership, safeguards in ministry, and eyes wide open in our pews. We need shepherds who fight for the flock, not those who feed off of it. We need churches where evil cannot hide behind a microphone or a Bible verse.
And this battle belongs to every believer who professes to follow Jesus Christ. If we claim to care for the family God has entrusted to us, we must be willing to confront these hard realities, take action, and stand against the evil that has crept into our midst. We must raise our voices—not just for justice, but for the healing of the wounded and the restoration of God’s house as a place of refuge.
So, I ask you: Will you join me in this fight? Will you vigilantly pay attention, speak up, pray fervently, protect the vulnerable, and demand accountability?
The time for silence is over. The time for action is now.
For the sake of the innocent, for the purity of the Church, and for the honor of the Lord Jesus Christ—we must act.
Lord, purify Your house. Let judgment begin at the house of God—and let the healing begin there too.
