Five years ago, God expanded the ministry which He had entrusted to me.
For years, the ministry had focused on abused children and orphans around the world. Then God began opening doors to something I never could have imagined.
Today marks five years since God led me to sell my home, sell my vehicles, distribute my possessions, and move to beautiful El Salvador.
On my third day in El Salvador, God opened the door to begin reaching young people ensnared by Satan in the MS-13 and Calle 18 gangs. And oh, the testimonies of God's great grace and the tremendous favor He gave me among some of the most horrendous gang members on planet earth.
Then the government began strongly combating the gangs and successfully broke their power. Tens of thousands were captured, while many scattered to the United States and Mexico.
Yet once again, God's grace was great. He closed one door and opened others. The ministry began expanding into reaching drug addicts, drunkards, the homeless, prostitutes, and prisoners.
The people have changed. The circumstances have changed. The ministry has changed in many ways. But the mission has never changed: To preach Christ—His death, burial, and resurrection—for the remission of sins, and to love and serve those who are struggling and need Christ to make a new life.
As I look back over these five years, I realize that this is not simply my testimony. It is your testimony too.
Each time you prayed for me, you became part of what God was doing. Each time you gave financially, you helped make it possible for the Gospel to reach another person. Each time you encouraged me, you helped me continue when the road was difficult.
You may never know this side of Heaven how many lives your prayers and generosity have touched. You were there when God opened doors. You were there when He closed them. You were there when the ministry entered places and reached people we never could have anticipated. And through your prayers and giving, you have had a part in every testimony of God’s grace that has come from this ministry.
Five years later, the greatest testimony is not what has been accomplished. It is what Christ has done. He has opened doors that could never have been opened by man. He has given grace where there seemed to be no way. He has provided favor where it was desperately needed. He has brought people into the ministry who could never have been reached through human strength alone. And He continues to lead.
So today, I would like to say thank you. Thank you for praying. Thank you for giving. Thank you for believing in what God is doing. Thank you for standing with me and with this ministry. Most of all, thank you for helping make these testimonies possible.
