Just because things are going well today and your walk with Christ is strong doesn’t mean you’re immune to Satan's traps. We don’t know what tomorrow holds, and Satan patiently and cleverly sets traps targeting our weaknesses. Under the right pressure, he can pull any one of us into a pit we'd never imagined falling into.
This really hit me as I listened to this man share his story. With tears in his eyes, he told me how he had once been a preacher—faithfully proclaiming God’s Word, evangelizing, and actively serving in his church. He could still quote many Bible verses from memory. But through a series of situations he didn't see coming, he slowly began to drink. What started subtly became one of Satan’s snares, eventually leading him to life on the streets—ensnared by alcoholism and separated from both his family and his church.
As I listened, my heart broke. Yet God strengthened me to offer him wise counsel from His Word that I pray the man does. I pray fervently that neither I nor anyone who reads this would ever be deceived by Satan in such a way. Satan's aim is to steal, kill, and destroy your life.
I pray this man’s story causes us to take our walk with Christ seriously—to daily seek the Lord Jesus Christ with all our might and to trust Him even when life is unjust, difficult, and downright wrong.
