| So many people are so gracious to partner up with miniseries and organizations to help children in the USA and around the world. This is wonderful, and we hope that more will be done to advance God's Kingdom and care for defenseless children. However, there is a dark side in the good work of rescuing and care for children. One area of the dark side is that there are exploiters of this great cause. There are individuals who abuse this system and exploit the donations of contributors for selfish gain and consumption. One example is of an orphanage Lawrence visited in Cambodia. Though there are great orphanages in Cambodia, this particular one that Lawrence visited was horrible. The director was using the money to live off the money meanwhile giving the children below minimal standards of. Orphan Frontier understands that donors and churches rely heavily on Lawrence’s word that their contributions are indeed being used to further the noble aims and projects of this ministry. Therefore, he regularly scrutinizes children’s ministries that Orphan Frontier advocates for in order to save patrons and donors extensive time and effort if they had to do the research themselves. Visiting and reviewing these orphanages and ministries are vital in order to ensure that they measure up to the expectations of financial and material contributors. Orphan Frontier’s work is conducted in the USA, as well as in foreign fields and Lawrence only travels for on-sight, hands-on evaluation when vitally necessary. He thoroughly researches prospective ministries serving children, making certain that they fall within the benchmarks which Orphan Frontier upholds: The ministry leaders and staff must be born-again, Bible-believing Christians who demonstrate high moral standards in their personal lives. Their handling of finances must be fully accountable and above reproach. There must be clear evidence of the LORD’s call upon their lives with confirmation that the LORD is using them to win souls, plant churches, and faithfully bear witness for Christ in the mission fields where they serve. Their nurture of children must be enriched with God's love, demonstrating genuine care in the development and maturity of the children’s spiritual, intellectual and physical wellbeing. The atmosphere of the children’s ministry must be one of a home with parent figures who exemplify good moral character and conduct for the children to emulate. The children must receive adequate food, clothing, shelter, education and medical help; and most importantly, dedicated training and admonition in the Holy Scriptures, ensuring that they learn to become responsible citizens who walk with the LORD GOD on this earth. Lawrence keeps regular communication with pastors and leaders of orphanages advocated for by Orphan Frontier. He periodically evaluates their work to continue to ensure that 100% of financial aid from donors are indeed serving and helping the children and staff. To have continued financial and material support, Orphan Frontier requires consistent updates of ministry and orphanage activities, as well as records of how the funds were allocated. Financial support is never sent directly to individual ministers and missionaries. Funds are sent to the ministry organization with a governing board and/or leaders who then distribute support to the missionaries they oversee. |
