You can't choose your family, but you can choose to love and respect them. God commands us in Exodus 20:12: “Honor thy father and thy mother.” If you don’t have parents, then love and respect the caregivers who have invested themselves in you.
As you live out your life, be sure to keep these pointers close to your heart:
CREATE CHERISHED MEMORIES: Every moment spent loving and respecting your parents can become a cherished memory that lasts a lifetime. Treasure these moments as they're the building blocks of your family's history.
PRACTICE GRATITUDE: Regardless of your family circumstances, cultivating gratitude for the love and care you've received can lead to a more fulfilling and harmonious relationship with your parents.
EXPRESS LOVE DAILY: Make it a habit to express your love and appreciation to your parents on a regular basis. Small acts of kindness and affection can strengthen your bond and create a loving atmosphere at home.
Remember God says:
Ephesians 6:2-3: "Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth."
1 Timothy 5:8: "But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."
