I asked God for love, and He gave me lonely people
I asked God for meekness, and He gave me suffering
I asked God for faith, and He gave me impossible tasks
I asked God for courage, and He a gave me dark paths
I asked God for strength, and He gave me challenges
I asked God for patience, and He gave me trials
I asked God for gentleness, and He gave me struggles
I asked God for temperance, and He gave me limitations
I asked God for compassion, and He gave me pain
I asked God for mercy, and He gave me offense
I asked God for understanding, and He gave me His Holy Bible
I asked God for grace, then Jesus shed His blood for me.
Looking back on my life, I see all that God had done for me
He gives me what I need to have what He wants me to be
For in sorrow, I learn to appreciate life
For in loneliness, I learn to understand others' strife
For in suffering, learn humility
For with impossible tasks, I learn to lean on God
For in dark paths, I learn to be brave
For in challenges, I learn to overcome and pave
For in trials, I learn to endure and grow
For in struggles, I learn to be kind and know
For with limitations, I learn to yield to God
For in pain, I learn to empathize and console
For in offenses, I learn forgive and let go
For with Gods Holy Bible, I learn to know His heart and mind.
Looking back on my life, I see better what God is doing,
God’s ways are higher than our ways! And I rejoice that He does it His way.
