But as I sit here, contemplating this loss, I am reminded that life is a series of one lost after another. None of us can get through life without experiencing various forms of loss. We experience the decline of our health, the shattering of dreams, and the death of loved ones and pets. We lose a cherished job, encounter financial difficulty, and part with friendships we never dreamed of losing. 😔
So, what are we, as Christians, supposed to do with the losses we face? First, we must turn to the Lord and embrace gratitude. We must offer thanksgiving for the blessings we had the chance to enjoy. Though my little Whittmeyer is now absent, I find solace in kneeling before God to express gratitude for the seven years of joy, love, and companionship he brought into my life. Amidst the ache of absence, I cling to the wonderful memories that reside within my heart, giving me comfort. 🐕
Second, we must accept the loss and find a way to move forward. For instance, I recall a failed investment opportunity that resulted in a significant financial setback. My dreams of using that money for something wonderful instantly vanished into thin air. There was nothing I could do but accept the state in which God permitted me to be. While such losses may initially feel overwhelming, they do not signify the end of the world. Rather, they mark a new beginning. Life continues, and through loss, God imparts valuable lessons; God cultivates compassion and empathy within us and equips us to better minister to others in their own times of loss. ❤️
Nevertheless, amidst all our losses, there remains one unshakeable truth: as followers of Jesus Christ, we possess the Lord forever. Jesus will never forsake us, and we shall never lose Him. Beyond this temporary life of losses, we have a secured Home awaiting us with an eternal purpose. Though earthly losses will bring anguish, our salvation remains steadfast and secure in Christ Jesus: He paid the ransom to purchase our salvation forever with His own blood. ✝️
So, as I reflect on my own loss, I want to leave you with this thought: While loss can be painful in this temporary life on earth, have you ever considered the eternal loss of your soul? Have you entrusted your soul to Christ? You must; because without Jesus as your Lord, you will lose everything at the moment of death and face eternal separation from God and His goodness. Today, right now, is your chance to call on Christ Jesus to save your soul and give you eternal life. Will you open your heart to Christ, inviting Him to cleanse you from sin and give you eternal life? It's the most important decision. Don’t delay and waste time thinking about it, for tomorrow is not promised to you. ⏳
