A simple study of the term "perilous" in the King James Bible sheds light on the nature of the days we currently inhabit. God, in 2 Timothy 3:1, issues a warning about our present era: "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come." Indeed, we are in the midst of perilous times. However, contrary to widespread teachings, the Bible suggests that "perilous" is less about external persecution sanctioned by God for the purging and purifying of His church, and more about internal apostasy—deviating from and forsaking truth, Christ’s doctrine. 📖🤲
The cautionary note is explicitly stated in 2 Timothy 3:1: PERILOUS. Subsequently, God expounds on the manifestations of what apostasy shall appear as within the church and extended outward upon all the world. 🌍✨
Take a moment to read the chapter. Doesn't this chapter strikingly describe the state of today's church generation? Sadly, we are the Laodicean church forthtold in Revelation that makes God’s stomach want to vomit. 😢🤮
The worse the times we live in, the greater our honor will be if we remain faithful. But who shall be faithful? True faithfulness is a rarity; the majority often veers off course and go astray. Nevertheless, in every era, there exists a remnant—a select few who understand the times. Consider the commendation bestowed upon Lot for his righteousness in Sodom and the exaltation of Job for eschewing evil in the heathenish land of Uz. 🌟💖
We are living in the face of escalating sin, particularly within the church, therefore our grace should be even more abundant. As sin becomes increasingly prevalent in the world and within this apostate church age where even Christians are failing to recognize sin, our opposition to sin should appear more against it. Our generation has received unparalleled blessings from the Lord compared to our forefathers. God has done more for us today than toward our forefathers. Consequently, God expects more from us than He did from them; where much is given, much is expected. It is a shame for us if we do not do our work better in the sunlight of God’s Word, than others that had but a twilight of God’s Word. Let him who understands, act upon it; let him who does not understand, seek God’s Holy Bible and prayer; let him who is indifferent, repent of his sin and turn back to the Lord. 🙏🌈
