Now, there are certain individuals who claim to have recollections of past lives, describing experiences from different times and places as if they lived them. Their narratives raise intriguing questions: Are these people truly recalling real experiences, or are their stories mere fabrications? It is these questions I would like to expound on by delving into the pages of the Holy Bible. Within the Bible’s passages, we can find profound insights that shed light on this matter, warning us about the nature of deception.
First, the Bible warns that we can be influenced by diabolic spirits [devils], which often target individuals with elaborate deceptions. For example, when someone entertains the idea of ghosts, they inadvertently open themselves to the manipulation of these wicked spirits, allowing them to create illusions of “ghosts” through the power of “familiar spirits” in biblical terms (Leviticus 20:6). Similarly, those who entertain thoughts about extraterrestrial phenomena may lead to encounters with deceptive manifestations, referred to as “masquerades as an angel of light” as the Bible calls it (2 Corinthians 11:14-15).
The same principle applies to the belief in reincarnation. If you accept the notion that people are reincarnated after death, you expose yourself to the devil’s elaborate mind games of deception and lies, as warned in 1 Timothy 4:1 in the Bible, “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits...”
Why does this happen? It occurs because of devils—fallen angels from the glory of God whose present objective is to distract people’s minds with deceptions and thoughts about anything and everything other than the Lord Jesus Christ. The devils do not want you to think about Jesus nor to know the truth of God’s Word. The devils’ aim is to allure you to discredit and disbelieve God's Word. If they can entice you to doubt or reject even a single aspect of the Bible, they can then more easily lead you down a path to deny essential truths regarding your eternal soul—sin, death, judgment, hell, and the deity of Jesus Christ.
Ecclesiastes 12:7 offers a profound insight into God’s perspective on what occurs at the moment of death: "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it." According to the Bible, at the point of physical death, the soul does not transition into another physical body, such as a newborn baby, animal, or creature. Instead, the Bible unequivocally asserts that the soul promptly continues existing in the spiritual realm before the omnipresence of God.
Hebrews 9:27 provides additional clarity on the nature of physical death: "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." This passage emphasizes the singular nature of human mortality—each person experiences physical death once. There is no cycle of multiple deaths and rebirths into new physical bodies. Instead, following death, individuals confront judgment—either judgment unto righteousness or a judgment of condemnation. This underscores the biblical teaching that life on earth represents a unique opportunity for each individual, with their ultimate eternal destiny hinging on their choice to believe God or disbelieve God.
Indeed, there is tremendous comfort and hope for those who have entrusted their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:8 offers a reassuring promise: "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." For believers, physical death signifies not an end but a transition into the presence of the Lord. This verse underscores the assurance that those who are righteous in Christ shall dwell eternally in the blessed presence of their Savior and Lord. It is a promise of everlasting fellowship with God, where joy and fulfillment abound for all eternity.
However, the fate of those who reject God's offer of salvation is solemnly portrayed in Scripture. The words of Jesus in Luke 16:22-23 present a vivid depiction: "And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom." Jesus tells us this testimony to warn that at the moment of physical death, individuals will either awaken to the horrors of hell or to the blessed presence of God. There is no room for reincarnation or second chances; the choices made in this life have eternal consequences. It underscores the urgency of embracing the salvation offered through Jesus Christ and the gravity of rejecting it.
Why is it urgent? Because the Bible unequivocally states that “today” is the day of salvation—there’s no second chance in another life. God has given you this one life to make a critical choice: that you should choose blessing or cursing, life or death, heaven or hell. Will you believe God’s report? Or will you make God a liar? As for me, I’ve long ago decided that I am a liar, and therefore, “let God be true, and every man a liar (Romans 3:4).
Regardless of the experiences we may believe we’ve encountered, our minds and senses are susceptible to deception and often do fool us. However, the truth remains steadfast in God’s Holy Bible, the ultimate authority from the Creator Himself, distinguishing reality from illusion. The Bible resolutely rejects the notion of reincarnation, affirming that we live once, die once, and face judgment once thereafter. Therefore, our focus should be directed toward the timeless truths of God's Word and the salvation offered through Jesus Christ rather than being led astray by deceptive beliefs, feelings, and murky senses.
Rather than considering the deceptions surrounding reincarnation, it’s crucial to think about and resolve the questions that profoundly impact your eternal destiny:
1. Will you believe the Holy Bible that the Lord Jesus Christ is God in the flesh?
2. Will you believe the Holy Bible that you are sinful, rebellious, and contrary to God?
3. Will you believe the Holy Bible that the consequence of your sins is hell?
4. Will you believe the Holy Bible that the blood of Jesus Christ can cleanse you from your sins?
Lastly, John 3:19-21 warns: “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”
Yet, amidst this warning, John 3:16-18 offers the profound message of God’s heart: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
