Have you ever pondered the significance of the word “sent” in the context of Jesus's earthly mission? He wasn't merely born into this world; he was sent with a purpose. Luke 19:10 tells us Christ’s mission: “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” The emphasis on being sent underscores that Christ's mission is not merely a call to copy or mimic His actions, but rather to go beyond that—to understand God’s heart for us lost people and commit ourselves unto Him. It’s an invitation for us to be found and partake in a relationship with the Savior who beckons us with open arms. 🌟
Jesus Christ came not only to lead but to lay down His life for our salvation. He came not to merely be an example because we are unable to do everything He does. He came not to merely gather followers because we cannot follow Him completely. Our capabilities fall short of His glory, therefore, we can believe Him; we can respond to His call and receive His gift of eternal life through His sacrificial death on the cross and resurrection. In His shed blood and resurrection, we can be redeemed and reconciled unto the Father. 🙌
Do you know why God sent Jesus Christ down to the Earth? 🤔
In the depths of 1 John 4:9, a profound truth is revealed — God loves you. The manifestation of God in the flesh—Jesus Christ—was sent to uncover and reveal God’s immense love before our very eyes, even in the slim of our sin, and to save us from sin’s clutches. ❤️
First John 4:14 sheds light on another facet of God’s divine purpose — to give us a Saviour. Do you have a Saviour? Or do you merely engage in religious traditions and good deeds? Jesus Christ declares in John 14:6: "I am the way, the truth and the life..." He died for us, rose from the dead, and bore the whole heavy weight of our sins, disobedience and offenses against God. Jesus is the only way to God. Jesus is the only truth about God. And certainly, Jesus is the life of God to be enjoyed for all eternity. There is no other means. 🛤️
The purpose of Christ's coming extends further, stated in 1 John 4:14 — to be a propitiation for our sins. Propitiation means to be the remover of our sins. Unlike the previous thousands of years of animal sacrifices that merely covered sins, Jesus' blood is the power to wash away our sins, removing them as far as the East is from the West. Have your sins been removed, or do you carry the burden of guilt? Trust in Jesus Christ for forgiveness, cleansing, and the removal of all your sins. 🌊
Referencing John 3:8, we discover another aspect of Christ's mission — to destroy the works of the devil. The devil is the father of lies and he brought sin and death upon Adam and Eve; we inherited their sinful nature, and thereby the devil brought death upon all of us. Christ's sacrifice broke the chains of death. Christ destroyed the works of the devil, ensuring that the devil can no longer bring railing accusations against us or condemn us. We are forgiven through the bloodshed of God’s only begotten Son. 🕊️
So the next time you encounter someone in need of a Saviour, these are four reasons you can share with a person to show them their need for Jesus Christ:
1. To Reveal God's Love—Christ came to manifest God's love, even in the midst of our sin. ❤️
2. To Be Our Savior—We need more than religious rituals, traditions, and good deeds; we need a Savior to rescue us from the clutches of sin. 🆘
3. To Remove Our Sins—Jesus' blood is the power to absolutely wash away all sins, providing a clean slate before God. 🧼
4. To Destroy the Works of the Devil—Christ's sacrifice broke the chains of sin and death, liberating us from condemnation. ⛓️
In essence, Christ came to mend what sin marred. Our lives are wrecked by sin and we are marred by sin. We are ugly and stained with sin. We are guilty of breaking God’s commandments and ruining every decent thing that God has created good. Therefore God sent Jesus Christ to be marred on the cross of Calvary so that we who are marred can receive Him. We now can find redemption and union with God—Two marred people together. 💔✝️
