Has someone injured you, caused you pain?
Has someone greatly embarrassed you, driven you insane?
Are you struggling to get even, to right the wrong?
Is the lure of vengeance where you belong?
Vengeance whispers with a grip in your ear,
Telling you to hurt, to make them shed a tear,
The urge to strike back with a powerful surge,
To cause more pain, to even kill with a dirge.
But is revenge the way to find peace?
Does it really make the pain to cease?
Is it worth the fury, to mar and to fight,
That will linger on long after the strife?
The sweetness of revenge will quickly fade,
Leaving you with offense, anger, and shade.
It may feel sublime, but it’s just a cursed trap,
Bringing more shame, hurt, and a bitter gap.
For justice isn’t yours to take, my friend,
God alone can right the wrongs to end.
Trust His Providence to render the judgment,
And to fix the wrongs, with no resentment.
Don't give in to hate when cruelly wronged,
Resist the urge to retaliate, but to be strong,
Let justice be in the hands of God’s marvelous fate,
And in His ultimate solution, find peace that’s great.
Forgiveness will free your heart and soul,
Letting go of vengeance’s hold, you'll be made whole,
And choose to heal the wounds of yesterday,
To find freedom and a brighter way.
