We're created with a purpose, each life unique and rare,
On earth we're but sojourners, our days fleeting as air.
At death's door we stand, our final fate at hand,
What shall be said, when we enter eternity's land?
When my earthly journey is complete, and I draw my final breath,
I shall see my Savior’s face, who conquered sin and death.
As I’m welcomed to my final Home, I hope to hear Him say,
“Well done, thou good, and faithful servant,” may His words convey.
When I reach the gates of Heaven on that wondrous blessed day,
And creation joins in chorus, to formally speak and say,
Their words of honor and eulogy, with joy and solemn ring,
But 'tis my Savior's voice which matters, who is the Great King.
May Christ smile upon my face with a joy of acclamation,
And testify with delight of a faithful servant’s dedication,
That I toiled in the fields of souls with a willing heart and might
And labored in fervent service with care and compassion bright.
Oh may Christ be able to recall of my life with gladness to share
Of many lives that were so touched and blessed with much care,
Uplifting those in need as well as the feeble and lowly,
That I gave of myself with devotion, zeal and actions holy.
Oh, how I yearn to hear my Savior's voice so dear,
Saying, “Faithful soldier, you fought through each fear.”
Through every battle, you didn’t give up by God’s might,
And clung to God's Word, for it was your guiding light.
With arms outstretched and eyes beaming with love,
He'll welcome me Home and embrace me with a hug.
His eyes will sparkle with a joyous gleam,
Delighted that I'm Home, forever to be redeemed.
