(The Barren Land)
In the morning mist, a whisper came
A voice that spoke of a forgotten name
It called to me from across the sea
And beckoned me to come and see
So I set sail without delay
To find the place where the voice would play
And on the waves I rode along
To the melody of its haunting song
As I approached the distant shore
The voice grew louder than before
And as I stepped upon the sand
I knew that I had found the land
But what I saw was a barren waste
A desolate and empty place
Where nothing stirred and nothing grew
And the voice cried out, "What will you do?"
And so I stood, and looked around
And listened to the whispering sound
And in my heart I knew the truth
That I was here to plant a seed of youth
For in this place of death and gloom
There lay the seed of life to bloom
And though it may take many years
The voice would sing, dispelling fears
And so I set to work that day
To plant the seed and clear the way
And in my heart I felt the thrill
Of knowing that the voice would still
Sing out its song across the sea
And fill the land with harmony
And as the sun sank in the west
I knew that I had done my best
For now the seed lay in the ground
And all around, new life was found
And in my heart I heard the call
That echoed from the sea and all:
"Awaken, land of shadow and night
And dance again in the morning light
For though you may have been forgot
Your time has come, and you are not."
